SLaM 2004 Benevolent Dictators Capture SLaM 2004 TitleThanks to a clutch performance from rookie wide receiver Lee Evans, the Benevolent Dictators, behind usual standouts Daunte Culpepper and LaDainian Tomlinson, beat Grape Kool-Aid, 155.25-143.10, to claim the SLaM 2004 championship. The SLaM Bowl VII victory marked the league’s sixth different champion in its seven-year history. It also was the RiverDance Division’s first title since the 1999 season, capping a comeback year for the much-maligned quartet. The Dictators’ victory was aided by some ill-timed disappearing acts from Billy Volek, subbing for a coasting Donovan McNabb, and Drew Bennett. Strong games by Nick Goings and Tony Gonzalez were ultimately not enough to lead Grape Kool-Aid, battling for a title in year #2, to victory. In the Trenches
