Best of 2008: The Year in Film

Time continues to pass us by, yet Hollywood keeps churning out films. If you looked at box office reports alone, you might be inclined to lament the current state of film-making. Thankfully, when Oscar time rolls around, we get a taste of what the industry can really do.

As was the case from 2002-2007, Potpourri has asked the most frequent Proudest Monkeys contributors to compile their "Best of 2008" lists. Of course, this year, this request must have been lost in the mail:

Top Ten Films of 2008: Lone Star

  1.  The Dark Knight
  2.  The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  3.  Iron Man
  4.  Appaloosa
  5.  Quantum of Solace
  6.  Bank Job
  7.  Rambo
  8.  Wall-E
  9.  Wanted
  10.  Cloverfield

Top Ten Films of 2008: Nora

  1.  Slumdog Millionaire
  2.  Iron Man
  3.  The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  4.  Mongol
  5.  The Dark Knight
  6.  Tropic Thunder
  7.  Baby Mama
  8.  Quantum of Solace
  9.  Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist
  10.  The Secret Life of Bees

These lists were finalized right before this year's Oscar celebration. Favorites of ours will likely be honored throughout the evening, while others will have to rejoice in the fact that they even made one of these hallowed lists.
